Sad I had a phone call tonight from Jason Sherrell, that he heard that Rick Stacey passed away today. I was told that he had a blood clot move from his hip and into his heart. Kathy and myself have very many fond memories of Ricky and my post some of them later after the shock wears off a little. Our heart felt thoughts go out to his nephew Brian Williams and the rest of his family. He will truley be missed by Kathy and myself!

I didn't know Rick, but I'm sorry to hear about his passing. Foosball is a small circle but we are all connected. I and all of the Boise foosers mourn his death. My condolences to his family and all that knew him.

I too am in shock. He was my friend and former foosball partner.

He could do things on Tornado that are not supposed to be possible. I have not seen a pin shot on Tornado that came close to his in terms of skill or variety. I was never quite able to conceal my laugh when he was in a zone and unleashing that thing on some poor goalie.

Thinking back on my 20-odd years of playing foos in the "Northwest", there are few if any foosers I can think of that were as omni-present as Rick. He will be missed!

MY sincere condolences to his friends and family.

We've lost one of The Woodburners. Our hearts are with the rest of you, I know you guys were very close. Brian and Kurtie, I'm so sorry.

Rick was a one of the best friends a person could ever have. If he liked you, he had a way of making you feel like you were his brother. I met Rick in about 1986 and since then have enjoyed too many hours of foosball to count. I don't think I have ever known anyone that loved the game more than Rick. A finer sportsman you will never find.

And Ricky, when you're kicking Jim Wiswell's ass on the other side, with full, pain free range of motion, try to remember to give a shout out to us down here once in a while. After all, we helped you warm up!
We love you buddy.

12/16/2005 9:03:01 AM Dave D I met Ricky only a couple of times, all at steph's tourneys. I remember him to be a complete class-act. I also remember that he played as fiercely and fairly as anyone at those tourneys. You will be missed Ricky!

When I first picked up the game, I remember Rick because he was the only guy around who was competing with a backpin on Tornado. I thought it was very cool to watch him play. He was a very nice guy. I will remember him and notice when he is not there the next time I am at a tour event. Rest In Peace Rick.

Ricky was a really talented player and a true warrior when it came to foosin. His declining health over the last few years severely limited his mobility and left him in obvious pain. But, when it was time to play, he happily struggled to the table and never complained about his health. He really did live to play and play to live. And, amazingly, he treated me with the same genuine respect and loyalty he showed the game.
Thanx Rickster, R.I.P.

I met Rick when the Oregon guys came over for 2002 Montana State. His health back then didn't seem good. I will let the guys around here know. Paul give my regards to Brian and family. We will keep him in our prayers. Jeremy Housley

Thanks for the link Kevin. I had forgotten that I had teamed up with Ricky back when I first started playing. I've got a box of duplicate photos of the last 10 years of NW foosball - I am planning on bringing to the local DYPs. There are quite a few of Ricky and the Portland players in there. We'll miss him. -s

So sad to read this news. He was a very very nice man. He was a good player when I first started playing and he was always very super supportive. You have to admire his love for the game when you could see the pain he was in just to be at the table. That will not be forgotten.

*hugs*

He was really nice to Mike C and I when we met him in Vegas, and I was impressed he was playing with his health so deteriated. What did he have, anyway?

RIP, Rick

I can't beleive the response from everyone. Just goes to show you the impact Ricky had on people. The talent he had and never complaining of the pain he was in. Ricky was quite an athlete when we were young. He was an awsome baseball pitcher. When he was diagnosed around the age of 16 or 17 they said he wouldent make it past 19. But, He showed us. I talked to him about a month ago and he was ready to go to the worlds.(as always) I miss you Ricky ! The funeral is Wed. 12/21/05 in Woodburn @ 11:00am Me and Roger and Dennis Michaels and his brothers will be paulbearers.

SWITZ - Dec 16 2005 1:07PM Very sad to hear that Ricky passed away. He was a great player and truely a nice person. He will always be remembered. I can see that he passed his love and talent for the game on.
antfoos - Dec 16 2005 11:49AM John, thanks for the quick reply. I never have intentions of playing less
than 100% whenever I play. Just wanted to ask early so anyone with
thoughts of doing something like that now has a definitive answer.
Condolences to Rick's family. He was, to use a term posted recently
on this board, a "good dude". Peace.

Rocky Willson - Dec 17 2005 4:16PM Sorry to hear Ricky passed away. He was a fierce competitor. He always seemed to be thankful for the tournaments I ran, and as a TD you never get enough of that.

My condolences to his family. I will sure miss him.

...............Rocky Willson
